- The effect of slow-wave sleep disruption on pulsatile luteinizing hormone (LH) secretion in pubertal children
The Reproductive Endocrine Unit at the Massachusetts General Hospital seeks healthy girls (10-14 years old) and boys (11-14 years old) who have started puberty and do not have a sleep disorder. Girls may not have started their period (menstruation) yet. The purpose of the study is to determine the effect of poor sleep on reproductive hormones.
This study involves a screening visit (1 hour) and two overnight stays at the hospital (from approximately 5pm to 9am) for a sleep study and blood sampling. The study will take about 2 months to complete. Payment for participation is up to $300.
